I’m so glad it was FINALLY nice enough that I could actually open my windows yesterday

Yeah for Fresh Air! I LOOVVVEEE having my windows open.

It’s probably too hot during the day but I’m only home at night anyway.

If I had it my way it would be in the 80s ALL year round :-)

Tonight is the season finale of HGTV’s Design Star Season 5!

… and my DVR is set.  I have watched seasons 2 thru 5.  Unfortunately, I missed the first season with David Bromstad.  He seems to be the only one that actually has had a successful show that is actually playing on HGTV.  What happened to all the other winners?!  It looks like Antonio finally has a show but is it going to have more then just a few episodes?  Kim Myles had a show but I don’t remember it being on very long and I don’t remember a show from Jennifer Bertrand at all.

Michael and Emily are the two finalists this year and in the last challenge they had to design a glass house.

Michael chose to design a room for a bachelor pad look for a recent college grad. He built a Murphy bed to give the small room more space when the bed was not being used. I really like the vinyl wall decals he used. They are kind of hard to see in the pictures but it was definitely a great idea to use on the glass walls. I really want to use some cool vinyl decals somewhere in my house.

Emily decided to use her outfit and personal style as her room inspiration. She used floral fabric on the back wall, which I love! It creates a great focal point. The colors and wood she used makes it feel very warm and inviting.

Who do you think is going to win?

The other day I received my first Etsy purchase in the mail!

I’ve been checking out Charm Design since I started looking at Etsy and I FINALLY purchased something! haha

I just love Charm Designs purses I contemplated forever until I decided which pattern to choose.  There are so many awesome ones it was too hard to pick.

I  decided to get the small shoulder bag in the Gray Flower print.  I thought it would be perfect to match with so much over the summer.  Since it is mostly gray it will match a lot and the pops of orange give it some great color!

It is a great size to fit my wallet, phone and keys

Hi Everyone

I have not updated this week yet because I have been busy making necklaces! Woo hoo! We got some supplies in and I got straight to work!

Yesterday, I was very excited to see in my email that the 2011 IKEA Catalog is here!

I LOOOVEEE going to IKEA.

Who doesn’t!?

(well probably my Dad because we are there just way to long)

Unfortunately, the closest IKEA is 3 hours away from where I live :-( but I go with my Mom sometimes when I’m visiting my parents.  Her IKEA is only about 15 minutes away. Yeah!

Here are some of my favorite pics from the new IKEA Catalog!

How cute is this chair!

I really like these black Norden side tables they look like they would just be very useful.

I wish I had a kitchen like this.  Isn’t it cool how the island surrounds you on 3 sides?

This bed is calling my name! I just want to snuggle up and never get out.

This Hemnes linen cabinet caught my eye immediately.  The color is such a great vibrant red and it’s not cherry red.  With the glass though you would have to keep everything clean and tidy.

What are some of your favorite IKEA pieces?

I’m so glad it is Friday!  I’ll be heading to the lake this weekend with some friends.  We’ll be relaxing and enjoying some time on the water.

Maybe I’ll post a picture or two when I get back.

I wish I could say we have been working hard on making some Schnitzel Shop necklaces but we haven’t…we made our samples about a month ago with supplies my mom got at a scrapbook convention and now we are having trouble getting the right high quality materials we want and need!  We received some of our supplies but the glass has not been quite what we are looking for so, we are doing some returns and exchanges and hopefully we’ll be back on track soon!

In the mean time I have been working on some scrapbook pages for my two “bestest” friends!  We live far away from each other so when we get to spend time together we love taking lots of pictures and then we put together scrapbook pages for our “Day ‘o Fun” scrapbook that we each have that will someday be filled with pages and pages of awesome memories.  We usually use the regular old scrapbook paper pages but since I found out about Heritage Makers I decided to surprise my friends with a digital Scrapbook page that we can print out and add to our scrapbook of each of their weddings!  It was not technically a “Day ‘o Fun” but it was a day we all spent together celebrating their lives with their new Husbands.

This is what the page looks like for my scrapbook.  The pictures are moved around a bit for each of the other girls.  My friends have not seen these yet.  I’m going to give it to them when I see them next over Labor Day weekend!  Since no one really knows about this blog yet…it won’t ruin the surprise, it can be our little secret.  Shhhhhh  :-)

No, we are not talking about veal cutlets here.
We won’t be making Wiener Schnitzel,
Spätzle or Potato Salad…

Schnitzel actually means –
a scrap, a clipping, a shred or a piece.

Growing up of German decent our family uses lots of random German words in everyday conversation, schnitzels being one of them.  My mom use to always tell me to “Clean up these Schnitzels” anytime I was working on some sort of fun craft project.  I’d have little bits of paper all over the table, the carpet and probably myself.  “Schnitzels” were everywhere.

The necklaces we’ll be selling soon are made of “schnitzels.” Behind each piece of glass are little bits of paper so,“schnitzels” ended up being such a perfect name!  We started by making these necklaces as Christmas presents but we had so much fun making them we wanted to make more!  So, we decided to make more to sell because… well, we can’t keep them all for ourselves….or maybe we can :-)

We are Betty and Stephanie, Mother and Daughter.  We started this blog to share with you (and each other) what we do with our  “little bits of time.”  Both of us work in an office all day and need a creative outlet.  We always have tons of ideas in our head and can’t wait to share them with you.

We hope you enjoy!

The Schnitzel Shop will be opening soon!
